Intraoral scans
Intraoral scanners (IOS) are devices that are used for capturing direct optical impressions in dentistry.
Beneifts of IOS intra oral scanners compared to conventional impressions include:
- reduce patient discomfort form taking conventional moulds
- more time-efficient that simplify clinical procedures for the dentist without the need for plaster models
- enables better communication between dental technician and patients as scans are easily and clearly shared across platforms
Intraoral scanners are able to capturing impressions for fabricating a whole series of prosthetic restorations (inlays/onlays, copings and frameworks, single crowns and fixed partial dentures) on both natural teeth and implants.
Used in various fields of dentistry, intraoral scanners aid treatments for :
- cosmetic dentistry : digital smile design (DSD)
- implant dentistry : guided surgery
- orthodontics : fabricating clear aligners
- general dentistry : caries detection aid
3Shape Trios
With the 3Shape TRIOs, vitro studies (2015 to 2018) shows that the digital scanner provides statistically higher accuracy compared with conventional impressions and/or impressions made with other major intraoral scanners for full arch, single unit and multi-unit restorations.
TRIOS as a patient specific motion software that enables you to record a series of different bite positions and highlight occlusal contacts. This allows for dynamic patient specific articulation and high-quality digital impressions in life-like colors. Shade measurement can be applied.
