Post Care Instuctions

After zoom teeth whitening, your dentist provides you with instructions to care for your whiten teeth in maintain results:

  • avoid color-staining drinks and foods
  • avoid smoking and tobacco for at least 2 hours
  • clean and brush teeth as as normal daily
  • use home bleaching kits (optiona) for touch up

How much does teeth bleaching costs?

Teeth bleaching costs will depend on the type of teeth bleaching and whitening brand opted:

  1. In-office teeth whitening : done your dentist and varies with whitening gel brand. USA patented brands such as Philips Zoom whitening may costs more than other LED whitening systems or laser teeth whitening.   2. Home bleaching kit : may be purchased over the coutner or at your dental clinic that allows for customized trays. In dental clinic in Thailand, a basic kit costs around 5,000 baht (estimated USD$160 per kit)
  3. Internal bleaching for non-vital teeth : can only be treated by your dentist for darked teeth that has been injured internally. 
Is it safe to whiten teeth?

We would recommend that you visit your dentist to check if teeth whitening is suited for your.

If you have fluorosis, tetracycline staining or transparent teeth, teeth bleaching can actually make worsen teeth aesthetics. In general, teeth whitening is considered safe for individuals without counter-indications. There are also several considerations including whether you have existing amalgam fillings, receding gums, teeth sensitivity or other oral conditions whereby teeth whitening may not be for you. 

Is teeth whitening permanent? How long does it lasts?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. Its results varies from each individual based on their habits, lifestyle and the foods that they eat. Teeth whitening results can last from a few months to up to 2 years. If you drink red wine, tea, coffee and smoke, the reults will unlikely last as long.

Why are my teeth yellow? Can I do anything about it?

One of the most common causes of yellowish teeth is from color-staining foods or drinks and aging over time. For extrinsic stains, simple teeth cleaning, scaling and polishing or teeth whitening will resolve yellowish teeth.

For intrinsic stains due to tetracycline stains, other treatment options such as veneers and crowns may be considered in changing color shades of teeth. Your dentist is unable to control the color shades changes with teeth whitening treatments that is based upon you natural teeth colors. With veneers and crowns, you are able to specifiy your exact color shades as a thin layer of porcelain is placed over teeth.
